Purchasing, Fitting and Installation FAQs

Where can I buy Karndean Designflooring?

Karndean is available from our network of retail flooring specialists across the country. For large commercial projects, you can also order direct through Karndean. If you are not currently a Karndean customer, you can book an appointment with one of our Commercial Business Managers on our website.

Where can I get a free sample or brochure?

You can order free samples or literature by visiting our Request a Brochure section.

Can you provide me with a price list?

For pricing information, please speak to your Commercial Business Manager or call us at 1-888-266-4343.

Why does my sample look slightly different from the images on the website?

We are careful to make sure our images are accurate in all printed literature and on our website, but cannot always create a perfect representation of our products. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you look at a sample of any product you are considering before placing your order. All of our products are inspired by things we have seen in the natural world and just like variation in color and detail is part of the beauty of nature, is also a feature of some of our designs. This means that with some of our products you will see the natural variation when your floor is installed. If in doubt, ask your retailer to show you a larger sample of the product.

Should I buy Karndean over the internet?

We definitely recommend speaking to one of our flooring specialists rather than buying our flooring over the internet. Please note, it is important that the Karndean flooring is professionally installed in order to maintain your warranty. Purchasing Karndean over the internet would be at your own risk.

Who should I get to fit Karndean Designflooring?

We have a wide network of commercial contractors who install Karndean commercial flooring, as well as a network of Independent Retailers who will provide you with a supply and fit service or will be able to recommend an experienced fitter.  For more information, contact your Commercial Business Manager or give our team a call at 1-888-266-4343.

What are the box quantities/pallet sizes?

At Karndean, we pride ourselves on offering a diverse range of products each with different sizes and shapes. To find out more information on the box quantities or pallet sizes of a specific product, our friendly Customer Service team is ready to take your call.

Is there anything I need to do before the floor is installed?

Prior to laying Karndean Designflooring, products must be acclimated to room temperature. Remove material from packaging, spread out and allow to condition in the room where installation is to take place at a constant temperature of 65-85°F for a period of 24 hours prior to installation. This temperature should be maintained during installation and for a 24-hour period after installation.

What adhesive do we use with Karndean Designflooring? And why should we use Karndean adhesive?

We highly recommend using Karndean's K-91A adhesive as this has been designed specifically with Karndean flooring products in mind. For information on Karndean Adhesive, please contact our expert Customer Service staff or please refer to our installation guide. Karndean will not be liable for any loss, damage or complaint if the prescribed adhesive system and its instructions are not used or strictly followed.

Does Karndean carry trims/transitions/moldings?

Karndean stocks coordinating moldings for our rigid core products. Contact your local business manager or contact us for more information about stocked rigid core moldings or to inquire about gluedown or loose lay moldings.

What do I need to consider when transitioning a Karndean floor to an adjoining surface material?

When installing coordinating transitions, please take into consideration the color variation within the Karndean floor for your project. Some floors have higher color variation within the design than others, so making sure that the planks or tiles next to the transitions are of similar color/design will ensure a desirable outcome. Pre-cutting and placing the transitions in place can help determine plank or tile placement as well.

Where can Karndean be installed?

Karndean can be installed in a wide range of demanding sectors, from Healthcare and Hospitality (hotels, restaurants and bars) to Education and Corporate Office environments. All ranges are suitable for commercial use, rated from heavy-duty commercial to domestic. Check with your supplier for the correct specification for your requirement.

Ensure that the subfloor is permanently dry, smooth, level, clean and constructed to provide a firm foundation.
