Innovative Korlok vinyl range
Our luxury vinyl Korlok range in rigid core hybrid format features a variety of sizes in planks and tiles in low profile 6.5mm thickness with K-Core® technology for stability, the patented Välinge Innovation AB 5G® click locking system, and a specially formulated pre-attached acoustic backing, reducing noise transfer upstairs to downstairs by 21dB with no need for additional underlays. Together these layers and technology form a product that is strong and stable, and able to be installed quickly and easily over most existing hard floors.
Korlok is a durable hybrid vinyl flooring product, and as such is perfect for high-traffic areas; and is an ideal alternative to laminate and engineered hardwood click floors. Korlok also boasts advantages over real timber flooring. A prime example is that, unlike natural timber, Korlok does not require repeated sanding or sealing over its lifetime, offering you the natural beauty of timber with all the added practical benefits of luxury vinyl.
Korlok LVT Flooring Format - What distinguishes Korlok vinyl flooring in terms of its structure and installation process? Korlok by Karndean is an innovative hybrid flooring solution utilising K-Core® technology, a 5G® click-locking system, and specialised acoustic backing. This offers a hassle-free installation, effectively concealing subfloor imperfections. Combining the durability and waterproof features of luxury vinyl, Korlok stands as a superior alternative to traditional laminate floating floors and engineered hardwood floors. Its stability allows for quick installation over existing hard floors, delivering remarkable acoustic benefits by reducing noise transfer to lower rooms. Your flooring professional and installer will provide you with advice based on your subfloor at the time of the measure and quote.

Our Korlok range receives a GreenTag™ Level ‘A’ rating for quality sustainable building materials, and also receives a GreenTag™ LCARate Silver certification, recognising commitment to safeguarding the planet's biodiversity, ensuring the well-being of workers, and maintaining environmentally friendly manufacturing processes.
Korlok's Eco credentials
The Korlok range is supported by a product-level Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and Floorscore Indoor air quality assurance, independently certified by and globally hosted via SCS Environmental Services.
High variation means that each plank or tile features unique, natural-looking colour and pattern variations, just like real wood or stone. This results in a more authentic and dynamic floor with fewer repeating patterns, giving your space a rich, natural aesthetic.
Karndean uses advanced embossing techniques to replicate the natural textures of real wood and stone. Our registered emboss technology aligns the surface texture with the design’s grain, knots, and veining, creating a truly lifelike feel underfoot.
Understanding HoldSafe® warranty - Korlok features the added security of the 5G® click-locking mechanism, covered by our HoldSafe® warranty, which provides assurance that securely locked planks will remain in place.
Understanding the wear layer of Korlok flooring - The wear layer in Korlok flooring is a tough, clear PVC layer that's 0.5mm thick. It's designed to shield your floor from daily wear and tear. Plus, it has the K-Guard+® surface protection system on top, which uses PU technology to make it both hygienic and long-lasting.
Accessories for Korlok Rigid Core hybrid flooring - To complete your Korlok rigid core floor, a range of colour-coordinated accessories are available such as scotia, stair nosing, or edge caps. These accessories, colour-coordinated and custom-made with unique features, complement the installation process. They include tapered base plates to suit inbuilt acoustic backing and come in convenient 2.3m lengths for easy transport and handling. All accessories are suitable for both residential and commercial use, adding a finishing touch to your Korlok flooring installation.
Phthalate-Free composition of Korlok flooring - Absolutely. Karndean takes pride in ensuring that all our products, including Korlok flooring, are entirely phthalate-free. This commitment aligns with our dedication to environmental awareness and responsible manufacturing practices.
Wood species and stone options for Korlok - Korlok offers a rich palette of wood and stone options, expertly designed to replicate the natural beauty and texture of genuine materials. From the contemporary European oak to Australian classics like Spotted Gum, Blue Gum and Blackbutt, and the charm of Ash, and Hickory, Korlok's wood-look vinyl planks cater to diverse interior styles. For stone enthusiasts, the palette includes tiles inspired by concrete, limestone, breccia marble, slate, and Italian marble, offering a timeless and trendy backdrop for any home.
Longevity of Korlok Luxury Vinyl Flooring - Our proprietary K-Core® technology ensures a stronger, more stable core for installation over most existing hard floors without the concern of exposing subfloor imperfections. Korlok is backed by our lifetime transferable warranty.
Underlay requirement for Korlok - An underlay is not recommended for Korlok vinyl flooring installations. The product comes with a pre-attached acoustic foam backing, making Karndean's rigid core products quieter to walk on than laminate or engineered hard floors. It also reduces noise transfer to rooms below. Additional underlays may negatively impact the floor covering's ability to expand and the contract and may weaken the locking mechanism, and void your warranty.
To complete the proper installation of your Korlok floor, we recommend laying it underneath your skirting boards (this is called undercutting) to conceal the necessary 5mm expansion gap required for rigid core planks and tiles to expand and contract with seasonal temperature changes, opting for a premium finish. Additionally, your local flooring expert will assist you in selecting from a variety of accessory options, such as skirting, stair nosing, and various trims & channels that support a run of floor more than 15m, to seamlessly complete your flooring installation.
Noise Reduction with Korlok - Yes, Korlok vinyl flooring complies with Australian standards for acoustic performance, making it suitable for various residential homes and apartments.
Good acoustic design delivers sound control and reduces background noise pollution that stems from both internal and external noise intrusion. More detail is available in the Korlok Acoustic brochure. Standards like the National Construction Code (NCC) play a vital role in ensuring a comfortable living environment with minimal noise transfer. Karndean luxury vinyl flooring meets these standards, offering a quiet and peaceful living space.
Suitable rooms for Korlok installation - Korlok LVT flooring is suitable for a wide range of spaces within your home, including hallways, studies, living zones, and more. The versatility of Karndean Designflooring vinyl flooring allows you to find the perfect floor for each space, catering to your needs and style. The extensive range of colours, textures, embosses, and finishes ensures that you can create the ideal, authentic look for every room in your home. Everyday splash zones are suitable, however, considerations should be taken into account where there is potential ingress of water (such as flooding of any sort). Korlok has waterproof properties, although in areas prone to high moisture, we recommend using the gluedown or loose lay format.
Installation of Korlok Rigid Core Hybrid Vinyl Flooring - Korlok rigid core hybrid LVT flooring can be installed over existing floors such as ceramic tiles or floorboards. The click-locking system allows for a swift and easy installation process, minimising disruption during installation. Acclimation is vital in order for the product to adjust to the environment it will be installed in, preventing issues like warping or gaps due to temperature and humidity variations. View the comprehensive 5G® click rigid core installation guide.
Yes, it's essential to include expansion gaps when installing Korlok flooring. Rigid core LVT floor coverings should have a minimum expansion gap of 5mm around the room's perimeter and all fixed objects. Skirting boards/baseboards should be removed or undercut. To accommodate thermal expansion, door frames should also be undercut, or an expansion gap should be left. You can use a suitable edge trim to cover the expansion gap. You can find more information on installation in our guidelines for both our 2G™ and 5G® click LVT rigid core products.
