Scalloped Shapes
We mentioned that Art Deco would make a modern resurgence this year, and one element that fits this trend in particular is the scallop shape, which originally adorned flappers’ dresses. From furniture backings to table legs to backsplashes, this trend can be summed up in two words: curves ahead.
Shibori
Shibori is a Japanese fabric dyeing technique used to create patterns. If you’ve ever tie-dyed a shirt before, this follows the same process, however shibori typically uses indigo-colored dye. You can expect to see shibori used in pillows, upholstery and other accents. If you see this dyed effect in other inky colors, it’s likely due to the influence of this Japanese art.
70s Scandinavian/Midcentury Modern
If you like the simplicity of Scandinavian style or the style of midcentury modern furniture, but prefer to use more color, your moment has arrived! Think about incorporating bright colors into your existing Scandi or MCM inspired space, and not just as accent colors.
Sustainability
