Install Day Hessian Oak VGW93T

Installation Day

Karndean Designflooring

The day you’ve been waiting for is finally here – your retailer’s installation team is coming to lay down your Karndean Designfloor! What can you do to contribute to a smooth installation experience? Here are some tips on getting your home ready for the installation of your new floor:

Clear Your Schedule

Someone will need to be home during the installation, so be aware that you may need to take time off work and arrange childcare. If your pet gets anxious around strangers or loud noises, you may want to plan for a neighbor to watch him or keep him in a separate contained area in your home.

Create a Protected Walking Path

Fortunately, luxury vinyl does not involve as much equipment as other types of hard surface flooring, but creating a walkway will protect your existing floors, prevent unwanted clean-up and ensure the safety of the installers.

  • Use sheets of cardboard to protect hard surface floors or plastic sheets over carpet. Tape them to the surface to avoid a tripping hazard.
  • Make sure your child’s and/or pet’s toys and other tripping hazards are out of the way.

Preparing the Room

  • Move all furniture and breakable items out of the space, including pictures that are not permanently fixed to the wall.
  • If there are curtains in the room, remove those as well.
  • Make your retailer aware of any gas, water or electrical appliances that may require disconnection.
  • If your new Karndean Designfloors are being installed directly over your existing floor (Karndean LooseLay or Korlok), properly clean the existing floor.
  • Any additional preparation as specified by your local retailer.

Temperature Requirements

  • If you have underfloor heating, be sure to turn it off at least 48 hours before install day.
  • If your retailer has delivered your product, place the boxes in the room where the floor will be installed to acclimate the product for 48 hours prior to installation.
  • Make sure to store the product away from any sources of heat or cold, such as vents or windows that receive direct sunlight.
  • Set the room temperature to between 65°F and 85°F for 48 hours before installation.

The size of the room, intricacy of the lay pattern, and format of our flooring you choose will determine the amount of time needed for your installation. Once the installation is complete, you should not clean your new floor for 24 hours.
