Tips from the Table: Mixing Art Select Wood and Stone

Karndean Designflooring

At Karndean, we encourage mixing and matching products to create the perfect look for your home. In our last "Tips from the Table," we shared different ways you can mix wood and stone products from our Da Vinci collection. If you're considering mixing wood and stone looks for your next project, you can turn to any of our product ranges, not just Da Vinci, as each collection has coordinating looks to make for easy pairing inspiration. Consider these combinations from our Art Select collection for your next project.

Mixing wood and stone at Neocon

We showcased trending wood and stone combinations during our recent NeoCon exhibition.

In general, pairing a weathered look with a more "formal" product makes the look more casual - a trend we have been noticing at trade shows across the country. Dusk Oak HC03, one of our Oak Premier products, creates a contemporary casual feel with its limed wash. When paired with the super sleek marble look of Fiore LM16, you can create a space that embodies a relaxed modern aesthetic. Fiore’s subtle gray veining is beautifully versatile – you could pair it with either a warm or a cool wood, but we like how it complements the washed finish of Dusk Oak.

To create a more formal look, elevate the elegance by pairing Otono LM15 with Gallatin LM09/LM19. Gallatin’s blue and gray earthy tones feature a slightly deeper mottling effect for a more dramatic look, which perfectly coordinates with Otono’s classic Italian gray and black marble effect, with just a hint of blue. Imagine this in a sophisticated dining room or bedroom.

If you’re designing a more rustic space, turn to one of Art Select’s slate looks, Melbourne LM05, which has a rich mix of mid-grays, blue, orange and earthy browns. Because Melbourne, like natural slates, has high color varation, we’ve paired it with the rustic, yet traditional look and neutral tones of Dawn Oak HC01. This would be a beautiful combination for an entryway/kitchen or kitchen/living room.
