Faux concrete: Our top five looks unveiled for summer

Karndean Designflooring

Looking at Elle Decoration's latest summer living issue (July), we were delighted to see that the trend of bringing concrete hues into the home is far from over. What's more, we're intrigued at the same time to learn homeowners are looking to replace the real thing with practical alternatives to avoid the costly investment and upheaval of poured concrete.

As well as looking at wallpaper and fabrics, Elle Decor's ‘care-free concrete’recommends our popular stone effect tile, Opus Urbus (pictured above and below) with its stormy mix of light and mid grey tones. Of course we agree, and our rectangular tile looks at its best when paired with a contrasting design strip.

With Elle Decor begging the question, is concrete, a concrete investment this summer, we thought we’d take time to give you a run-down of our top five concrete looks and help you select the best texture and tone to suit your space.

1. Think woven fabric and the effect of poured concrete as one, and the result would include three of our new Da Vinci Stone designs &ndashBurnetCambric (pictured below) andSindon.

2. Look to complete a large or airy space, with the sealed concrete effect of our Karndean LooseLay Colorado.

4.  For a modern and versatile backdrop, try our clean-lined Opus Grano flooring for a stunning concrete-inspired effect in a wood plank format.

5. And finally, to introduce a rustic edge, why not consider the weathered and distressed appearance of our Van Gogh Aged Redwood?
