The US-based luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring manufacturer currently has state-of-the-art showroom and distribution centers in Export, Pennsylvania, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Irving, Texas. The Pittsburgh expansion will enable Karndean to relocate its offsite production activities to the new facility. A flow-through design will streamline distribution by separating Karndean’s shipping and receiving areas and improve the group’s operations.
Karndean expects to break ground on the project in September of this year with a projected completion date of July 2015. Named as one of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Top Workplaces in 2012 and 2013, Karndean Designflooring is an important part of the local community. Not only does the company serve as an important employer in the region, Karndean also is involved in giving back to the community through a variety of activities, including the 40 Free Floors for 40 Good Causes campaign. The building expansion will enable Karndean to strengthen its status as a key employer by creating jobs at all levels of the organization.
“We are excited to begin this expansion process here in Pittsburgh,” said Ed Perrin, CEO. “We’re committed to providing the best possible service to our customers and being a valued employer in the region. It not only benefits us as a business, it also enables us to strengthen our relationship with the local community by creating jobs and partnering with local vendors. Furthermore, expanding and improving our headquarters facility is proof that we are dedicated to doing whatever is necessary to strengthen our position as a leader in the LVT industry and progress within the marketplace.”
