Let there be light: Bringing yellow into your space

Posted on the 28/01/2019 by Karndean Designflooring

Even the smallest dose of yellow adds energy and cheer to a space. The colour of sunshine, warmth and optimism, this happy hue is commonly associated with positivity and confidence, which is why it’s a great idea to find a place for it in your home. Unsurprisingly, yellow’s popularity is at it’s peak during the summer months, however with our hints and tips you can successfully incorporate it into your home décor and it will work all year round.

Knight Tile Urban Spotted Gum

Start the day with a boost by using fresh, welcoming yellow in the kitchen or breakfast room to create an upbeat mood. When it comes to yellow, a little can go a long way, and using it as an accent colour is an ideal approach to injecting life into rooms. Golden yellows especially evoke a sense of grandeur and lend themselves to both traditional and contemporary settings.

Knight Tile Grey Scandi Pine KP131

Sunny yellow and white is a classic combination that exudes sophistication and will ensure the space feels airy, clean and bright. These uplifting hues suggest playfulness and a sense of adventure. Balancing out your colour palette with grey or another cool neutral will ensure yellow doesn’t overwhelm the space.

LooseLay Hartford

Mustard yellow is a warm, earthy shade and will therefore work best with other natural, organic hues. Timeless and calming, alongside the weathered and rustic shades of the LooseLay Hartford floor, this autumnal colour will serve a country or a Scandi inspired interior well.

Art Select Black Oak

While covering all the bedroom walls in a bright yellow might be overstimulating and keep you up at night, it doesn’t mean you can’t use it at all. Make a bold and stunning statement and pair it with midnight black for an edgy, chic space.

Choosing the right shade of yellow in the right proportions will complement you and your style. Pale yellows will open up a space with limited natural light, whereas deeper yellows add radiance and tend to be very versatile. From citrus shades to pastels, there are a wealth of options to help bring high spirits and pure joy into your home.
