In accordance with the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC), Clause G6.3.2 requires the impact insulation class of a floor to be no less than 55dB. Using ASTM E492-09 Standard Test Method for Laboratory Measurement of Impact Sound Transmission, Karndean LooseLay achieves an IIC rating of 56dB. This makes it suitable for multi-rise developments and design throughout New Zealand.
The rating system complements the established statutory and advisory codes such as the New Zealand Building Code, AS/NZS Standards or local authority building ordinances.
