We’re back on DIY SOS: The Big Build

On last night’s DIY SOS: The Big Build, we played a small part in helping to transform the home of Stuart and his family's from Torquay. In the latest episode, we saw single dad, Stuart, who suffers with progressive Multiple Sclerosis residing in his living room chair as he was having difficulty navigating around the home in his wheelchair.

Due to his illness, Stuart’s mother Lin has been taking care of him and covering all his personal care while completely blind and without a guide dog. Finding it increasingly difficult to reach the family home from her house across town, the family desperately needed their space transforming so that Lin could move in permanently and be on hand to help.

Choosing the right floor for Stuart and his family was very important to us and the DIY SOS team alike. It was vital for Stuart to be able to get around with ease and have a floor the entire family could admire. Working closely with the DIY SOS design team, we selected our Korlok Antique French Oak RKP8110 for its durability, easy maintenance and acoustic benefits – reducing noise transfer to rooms below.

Not only is our Korlok practical, but it truly makes a house a home. Its warm hues and antique colouration showcase the historical markings and tarnishing that you would see in real timber. During the big unveiling, Nick Knowles showed the family around their new look thee-bedroom family home, and our Antique French Oak could be seen in the open plan kitchen and master bedroom.

“Working with our friends at DIY SOS: The Big Build has been a great experience yet again, and time and time again they exceed expectations and utilise our products to transform the homes and lives of individuals and their families,” explained Stella Coyle, national retail sales manager.

“This time around, things have been no different. We have liaised with the designers on the project to ensure the most stylish and suitable flooring is used to create a safe space and one in which Stuart and his family can move around and enjoy with ease."
