Houzz UK gets to grips with vinyl flooring...

Karndean Designflooring

Luxury Vinyl Flooring (LVT) is an increasingly popular flooring choice with homeowners and self-build renovators looking to achieve the authentic look of real wood and stone, without the practical drawbacks of the real thing. Despite its popularity, it's still not always clear what the real benefits of vinyl in the home are, and importantly, what the differences are between ‘old fashioned’ sheet vinyl and LVT.

Our retail manager, Stella Coyle, took time out to speak to Sophie Baylis, deputy editor of Kitchens, Bedrooms & Bathrooms magazine and Houzz UK contributor, about why opting for LVT tiles and planks over sheet vinyl is the most practical option.

Realism and endless design options including parquet in a traditional herringbone (pictured below) or shaker-style (pictured above), borders (pictured below), grout strips and pebble effects, make LVT the perfect choice if you're looking for a truly unique design without the hefty pricetag and mess associated with intricate real wood and stone installations.

Even without cutting down our standard plank and tile sizes, you have the option of various laying patterns to create a unique look; such as a full sized plank in a chevron layout (pictured below).

Other benefits include: longevity, with a residential lifetime guarantee, flexibility to replace an individual plank or tile and compatibility with underfloor heating.
