Specifiers can now access our complete portfolio of wood, stone and abstract designs with our library of digital Karndean product components.
Developed as a process for modelling and managing information on complex construction projects across the entire project lifecycle and required for government building projects since 2016, BIM is being increasingly used in private construction projects of all sizes.
With many advantages over previous project management tools, BIM allows specifiers to include both 3D colour models and technical details in one place, enabling clients to visualise what the end product will look like and other project team members to easily access the technical specifications they require. As a result, miscommunication and misunderstanding is avoided and the risk of costly errors is reduced.

Fleur Carson, commercial sales director, explained: “The industry has been increasingly using BIM for private large scale commercial projects and long term building maintenance programmes as well as public building projects so we wanted to ensure that specifiers had access to the assets they need to incorporate Karndean products in their models.
“Our BIM objects are available as free downloads and accurately represent colour and texture details for a realistic visualisation of our flooring. As well as being able to build up a library of our floors as digital components, architects and interior designers can include key technical data and installation information.
“As the sophistication of BIM develops and we increasingly see a requirement to report on building Life Cycle Assessments we can expect project models to start including data relating to environmental impacts. In anticipation of this future need, our BIM objects include the technical information required for these assessments and ongoing monitoring.”
