Create Your Dream Floor

Step 3: Which Format and Colour?

Karndean Designflooring offers three types of luxury vinyl flooring to suit your design preferences and installation needs: rigid core, gluedown and loose lay.

Choosing Your Format

While any of our formats can be installed in any room of the home, you may be wondering what the differences are between each of these formats and how you know which one is right for you.

Rigid core is a type of floating floor that clicks and locks into place and can be floated over most existing hard floors - no adhesive necessary. Our rigid core ranges are: Korlok, Van Gogh, and Knight Tile.

Gluedown planks and tiles offer the highest level of personalization. This allows you to create a layout and design that makes your home more stylish and functional. Our gluedown ranges are: Art Select, Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Opus, and Knight Tile.

Loose lay is our format of non-interlocking, floating floors that allow for different installation patterns, but cannot be combined with our design strips and borders. Our loose lay ranges are: Karndean LooseLay and LooseLay Longboard.

Consider tones

Warm-toned floors tend to align with more traditional, timeless decor styles and are sure to create an inviting atmosphere.   A neutral-toned floor creates a clean backdrop to design the rest of the space. If you frequently like to change your decor, a neutral floor allows for the widest amount of options.   Cool-toned floors best compliment contemporary and modern styles and are sure to add drama and sophistication to any room in your home.

Filter our products by colour or tone based to find the floor that fits the vision of your new space. Then order free swatch samples of your favourites to see what they would look against other materials and finishes.
