What is BIMstore?
Firstly, let’s start with BIM. BIM is an acronym for Building Information Modeling or Building Information Management. It is a highly collaborative process that allows architects, engineers, real estate developers, contractors, manufacturers, and other construction professionals to plan, design, and construct a structure or building within one 3D model.
BIMstore is a free-to-use digital database, that houses thousands of BIM objects from hundreds of different suppliers and designers. It’s a place for you to browse and select which products such as appliances, floors and light fittings that you would like to see mocked up in a 3D model. With that 3D model, you would then be able to walk through your creation using Virtual Reality (VR) and make product decisions in real-time without having to order samples.
With many advantages over previous project management tools, BIM allows you to include 3D colour models and technical details all in the one place, enabling clients to visualise what the end product will look like and other project team members to easily access the technical specifications that they require. As a result, miscommunication and misunderstanding is avoided and the risk of costly errors is reduced.
Karndean flooring ranges are now available as BIM objects
We are happy to announce that the full suite of Karndean Designflooring products are now available for download as BIM objects within the BIMstore. We hope these will assist you in specifying Karndean flooring, helping you bring your next commercial building project to life.
To download any of our products as BIM objects, you can visit one of our range overview pages, and click on the “Download BIM files” button (illustrated below)
Alternatively, you can visit any of our individual product pages, like this beautiful Lemon Spotted Gum from our LooseLay Longboard range, and click on the “Download BIM files” button (illustrated below).
You will then be taken to the official BIMstore website, where you can download the floor you’ve selected. You will need to create a BIMstore account if you haven’t already done so. The site is completely free and only requires basic personal information, or a LinkedIn account to sign up!
