World Vision Case Study
- World Vision
World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. World Vision works in nearly 100 countries around the world, with its U.S. Corporate Headquarters located in Way, WA. This 10-acre corporate campus includes 3 buildings and services nearly 1,000 employees.
World Vision built a second cafeteria to service the large number of employees and visitors and needed a durable floor to withstand both foot traffic and messes commonly made in a lunchroom, as well as the sliding of chairs and tables. Shane Nolf, Senior Project Manager at World Vision, was also looking for flooring that would meet his budget and be easy to maintain and care for long-term. World Vision selected Art Select Wood Summer Oak (RL02) because it gave them the best overall value—in costs, maintenance and look.
Nolf was able to use his previous experience with a laminate flooring product in another on-campus cafeteria to build a wish list for the new cafeteria build out. He noticed that the flooring used in that cafeteria warped in certain areas where employees had spilled liquid or dropped ice cubes. What attracted him to Karndean Designflooring was that there wouldn’t be warping and the product would stand up better to spills.
"We were looking at ceramic, laminates and other LVT products for this job. The commercial grade and durability was far better with Karndean, as well as the realistic look of the product itself. The hand-scraping and emboss on Art Select Wood was better than anything I’ve seen,” Nolf said.
World Vision is extremely happy with the performance and look of their Karndean floor since installing it in April 2013. Nolf said World Vision now considers Karndean to be their preferred flooring and plans on selecting it again for future projects at World Vision. Many employees using the cafeteria have remarked that they wanted to put the same floor in their own homes because of how beautiful it looked!
