Bringing new hope for Worcestershire charity’s multi-sensory room

06 June 2014

A Worcestershire charity has been able to add the perfect finishing touch to its new multi-sensory room for children with disabilities, thanks to our 40 Free Floors for 40 Good Causes appeal.

We’ve donated 150 sq meters of flooring to New Hope, a charity which provides respite care for children with disabilities and complex healthcare needs, as December’s winner of our ’40 Free Floors for 40 Good Causes’ appeal from nominations received via Facebook.

Launched as part of our 40th anniversary celebrations, we’ve helped transform New Hope’s facilities by replacing dated carpet with Karndean floors throughout its new multi-sensory, kitchen, hallway and jubilee play room.

Joining forces with our local commercial flooring partner, Worcestershire based RT Floors, we  recommended our ‘Navarra Chalk’ Spanish pebble effect flooring and ‘Umbrian Nero’ mosaic pattern flooring as the perfect solution for the specialist care facilities.

“It’s amazing to receive such a generous gift and we could not be happier with our brand new Karndean floors,” explains Jean Wilson, founder and director of New Hope.

She said: “Karndean have not just provided us with a free floor, they’ve given us a floor that meets the requirements of the children that get so much joy from spending time with us. The touch and texture of our new floors will help us engage and interact with the children.

“What’s more, being so durable and easy to clean means our staff can spend more time playing and enjoying time with the children, rather than having to worry about everyday spillages, scuffs and wear.”

We launched our  ’40 Free Floors for 40 Good Causes’ appeal in October 2013 in a bid to help local charities and organisations in the USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand. Our international appeal calls on the public to nominate individuals, families, businesses and other worthy causes that they think deserve to win a free Karndean floor.

Paul Barratt, managing director of Karndean Designflooring said: “The fact New Hope started out three and a half years ago supporting three families and now supports over 89 is truly inspiring and a credit to Jean and her team.

“The charity is a fantastic example of the reason we decided to give back for our 40th anniversary celebrations and it’s great to see we’re making a difference.

“We’re receiving some truly inspirational nominations every month, and we encourage other organisations, businesses or individuals to put themselves forward as we still have six floors to give away in the UK.”
