Karndean Designflooring Exhibits in Another Light

25 September 2012

Karndean Designflooring Exhibits in Another Light summary

Karndean Designflooring collaborated with London’s iconic SCIN Gallery in September to kick off its ‘In Another Light’ exhibition. Hosting an evening called ‘Karnal Night’, Karndean gathered architects and designers alike to the opening party to view, and of course touch, several new inspired installations.

Specialists in replicating the beauty of natural materials of wood and stone, Karndean displayed its products in an unrecognisable concept at the exhibition launch urging visitors to the gallery to not take any product at face value and really look at it ‘In Another Light’.

This contemporary design event also included works from artist Benjamin Shine – who’s stunning folded toile display, “The Hands of Time” became a talking point of the evening. Duffy London’s “Up Coffee Table,” was also on display using Karndean Designflooring’s as its base.

SCIN’s owner, Annabelle Filer explained her thinking behind her new exhibition:

“I am always coming up with new ways of getting people’s minds to think in a different way. Be it an architect, designer or a member of the general public we are all guilty of taking the natural beauty around us for granted.

“The rationale behind ‘In Another Light’ was to display materials in a way that makes us re-evaluate what we are looking at. The overall goal of the new installations is to look at the materials with fresh eyes and see whether or not it’s possible to strip away preconceptions.”

Emily Greenhill, Commercial Marketing Executive from Karndean Designflooring, comments:

“The event was a great success for us at Karndean, collaborating with the SCIN gallery not only opened our eyes to being a part of a stunning gallery space but also creating our pieces of work for the display made us think about our flooring in a way which we wouldn’t have done before.”

In the heart of London’s busy design centre, the hustle and bustle of the evenings events partnered with the sounds of Soho House’s resident DJ Vanessa Mallinson, everyone was most definitely viewing materials ‘In Another Light’.

The 'In Another Light’ exhibition will be open until late October at; The SCIN Gallery, Morelands, 27 Old Street, London, EC1V 9HL.
