Light Reflectance Values Commercial Flooring
Guidance published in Building Regulations Part M, regarding the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), recommends that adjacent surfaces (floors/walls/ceilings) have a LRV contrast of 30 points difference.
LRV is defined as the amount of light reflected from a specific product, measured on a scale of 0-99. All of Karndean Designfloorings’ products have been tested to BS8493:2008+A1:2010 and are available as a downloadable pdf.
A result of 0 is a surface that perfectly absorbs all light (assumed to be totally black) and 100 which is perfectly reflective (and can be considered totally white).
